Symptoms

If your extender had been connected with Access Point and even then you are unable to connect to Netgear Wifi range extender manually.
To connect the NETGEAR WiFi Extender manually

Steps to be followed to connect manually with extenders which have Ethernet port are given below (EX6100, for example):

  1. Use a PC to connect to NETGEAR WiFi Extender .
  2. Then open www.mywifiext.net in your web browser.
  3. Then enter valid username and password Note: Username and password are case sensitive.
  4. Once you are logged in then go to Setup > Wireless Settings.
  5. Check the value in the Password (Network Key) field under Security.
  6. Then finally reconnect Wi-Fi devices with Netgear WiFi range extender by either WPS button or manual connection.

Steps to be followed to connect manually with extenders which do not have Ethernet port are given below (WN1000RP, for example):

  1. Firstly reset your Netgear range extender to factory default settings.
  2. Connect with extender via Wi-Fi
  3. Login to the web user interface of your NETGEAR WiFi Extender using http://myWiFiext.net. Then you have to enter a username and password. Note: Username and password are case sensitive.
  4. Then go to Netgear range extender setup wizard to setup your connection to your Access Point.
  5. Then finally reconnect Wi-Fi devices with Netgear WiFi range extender by either WPS button or manual connection.

What status does blinking arrow LED lights give on my Netgear Wi-Fi extender EX6100

LED which stands for Light Emitting Diode on NETGEAR EX6100 extender shows the connection status between wired or wireless router and the devices connected to it. One can also diagnose problem with extender by knowing the LED status. Meaning of Various LED Status are illustrated below

If the arrow LED of extender is blinking then it means that WiFi signal is weak and you have to place it to mire optimal position, to enhance its performance.

No Arrow LEDs Are Lit

This shows that EX6100 is at a good location.

Left Arrow Is Blinking

It means you have to place your extender nearer to router, if because of any reason it is not possible then you have to enhance line of sight between the router and the extender.

Right Arrow Is Blinking:

It means you have to place netgear Wi-Fi range extender nearer to client i.e wireless computer or devices that are using extender’s WiFi network

No LEDs lit:

If all of the LEDs are off that means are not blinking then it means that there is no connection.
